From the vibrant city of Kigali to the misty mountains of Volcanoes National Park, the relaxing shores of Lake Kivu and the ancient forests of Nyungwe, this itinerary offers an incredible combination of wildlife, nature, adventure and culture.

🏙️ DAY 1 — ARRIVAL IN KIGALI

Welcome to Rwanda!

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your private driver/guide and transferred to your hotel.

Take time to relax after your flight and enjoy your first evening in Rwanda.

🕊️ DAY 2 — KIGALI GENOCIDE MEMORIAL → VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, an important place of remembrance and education about the Genocide against the Tutsi. The memorial is the final resting place for more than 250,000 victims and provides visitors with an opportunity to learn about Rwanda's history and its journey toward peace and reconciliation.

After the visit, depart Kigali and travel north toward Volcanoes National Park, enjoying Rwanda's beautiful rolling hills and countryside along the way.

Arrive and check in at your lodge. Relax and prepare for the following day's gorilla trekking adventure.

🦍 DAY 3 — MOUNTAIN GORILLA TREKKING & DIAN FOSSEY MUSEUM

This is one of the most exciting days of your Rwanda adventure!

After an early breakfast, head to Volcanoes National Park for your mountain gorilla trekking experience. With experienced guides and trackers, hike through the beautiful Virunga forest in search of a habituated gorilla family.

Once you find the gorillas, enjoy a remarkable encounter with these incredible animals in their natural habitat.

After trekking, visit the Dian Fossey Museum to learn about gorilla conservation and the life and work of Dian Fossey.

Return to your lodge for a well-deserved evening of relaxation.

🌊 DAY 4 — VOLCANOES → GISENYI / LAKE KIVU

After breakfast, depart for Gisenyi, located on the beautiful shores of Lake Kivu.

Enjoy a relaxing Lake Kivu boat ride, taking in views of the lake, surrounding hills and local communities.

Later, enjoy time at the hot springs, giving you an opportunity to relax after your gorilla trekking adventure.

In the evening, enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of Lake Kivu and a beautiful sunset.

🌳 DAY 5 — GISENYI → NYUNGWE NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, begin your scenic journey toward Nyungwe National Park, one of Rwanda's most remarkable rainforest destinations.

Enjoy the changing landscapes as you travel from the shores of Lake Kivu toward the lush green forests of southwestern Rwanda.

Arrive at your accommodation and relax in preparation for your chimpanzee tracking adventure.

🐒 DAY 6 — CHIMPANZEE TRACKING & CANOPY WALK

Wake up early for an exciting chimpanzee tracking experience in Nyungwe Forest.

Walk through the ancient rainforest with experienced guides as you search for chimpanzees and listen for the sounds of the forest. This is also an excellent opportunity to see other primates and Rwanda's rich birdlife.

Later, experience the spectacular Nyungwe Canopy Walk, suspended high above the forest floor. The walkway provides breathtaking views across the rainforest canopy and is one of Rwanda's most memorable adventure experiences.

Return to your lodge and enjoy your final evening surrounded by the peaceful atmosphere of Nyungwe.

✈️ DAY 7 — DEPARTURE

After breakfast, check out and begin your journey back toward Kigali.

Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for a final stop, souvenir shopping or a short city experience.

Transfer to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight.
