Description

A compact express adventure into Volcanoes National Park, built for travellers short on time but determined to meet the world's last mountain gorillas. Begin with a guided tour of Kigali, drive north to the Virunga foothills, and spend an unforgettable hour with a habituated gorilla family. Finish with a visit to Iby'Iwacu Cultural Village and a scenic excursion to the Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo.

Gorilla permits are priced by nationality: Rwandan/EAC $200, African $500, Foreigner $1,500 per person. A 30% deposit confirms your booking, and permits are secured on receipt of payment.

Itinerary

Day 1 — Kigali to Nyungwe. Airport pickup and scenic drive south-west along Lake Kivu to Nyungwe Forest. Overnight Nyungwe.

Day 2 — Chimpanzee Trekking. Pre-dawn briefing and trek in search of chimpanzee troops. Afternoon at leisure or optional tea plantation visit. Overnight Nyungwe.

Day 3 — Canopy Walk & Transfer. Morning canopy walkway suspended above the rainforest, then drive north to Musanze. Overnight Musanze.

Day 4 — Mountain Gorilla Trekking. Briefing at Kinigi, trek to a habituated gorilla family, one hour with the group. Overnight Musanze., visit the Dian Fossey Museum to learn about the remarkable conservation work that has helped protect Rwanda's gorillas.

Day 5 — Morning at leisure, return transfer to Kigali for departure.

The park also features East Africa's famous Canopy Walkway, suspended approximately 70 metres above the forest floor, providing spectacular views of the rainforest canopy. ________________________________________ Volcanoes National Park Located in Rwanda's Virunga Mountains, Volcanoes National Park is internationally recognized as one of the world's best destinations for mountain gorilla trekking. Established in 1925, it is Africa's oldest national park and protects the endangered mountain gorilla. Through photographs, research materials, personal belongings, and interactive exhibits, visitors gain insight into her groundbreaking conservation efforts and the lasting impact of her work on gorilla protection
