Description

Two of Rwanda's most sought-after primate encounters in a single journey. Trek to a mountain gorilla family in the bamboo-clad slopes of the Virungas, then track the acrobatic golden monkeys that make the same forest their home. The trip closes with a gentle boat ride across the Twin Lakes.

Permit fees vary by nationality: gorilla permits Rwandan/EAC $200, African $500, Foreigner $1,500; golden monkey permits from $100 per person. A 30% deposit confirms your booking.

Itinerary

Airport pickup, drive north through the terraced hills to Musanze, briefing on the days ahead. Overnight in Musanze.

Morning briefing at Kinigi, trek to a habituated family, one hour in their company. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight in Musanze.

Track troops of golden monkeys through the bamboo zone. Afternoon cultural visit and hiking. Overnight in Musanze.

Boat ride on Lakes Burera and Ruhondo, return to Kigali for departure.
