Description

The definitive primate journey across Rwanda's two great forests. Track chimpanzees through the ancient montane rainforest of Nyungwe, walk the suspended canopy bridge seventy metres above the forest floor, then travel north to the Virungas for a mountain gorilla trek. Two forests, three primate species, one remarkable week.

Permit fees vary by nationality: gorilla permits Foreigner $1,500; chimpanzee trekking $100; Nyungwe canopy walk $140 per person. A 30% deposit confirms your booking.

Itinerary

Airport pickup and scenic drive southwest along Lake Kivu to Nyungwe Forest. Overnight in Nyungwe.

Pre-dawn briefing and trek in search of chimpanzee troops. Afternoon at leisure or optional tea plantation visit. Overnight in Nyungwe.

Morning canopy walkway suspended above the rainforest, then drive north to Musanze. Overnight in Musanze.

Briefing at Kinigi, trek to a habituated gorilla family, one hour with the group. Overnight in Musanze.

Morning at leisure, return transfer to Kigali for departure.
